The pool filter is an important and essential piece of equipment, a must have for every pool owner as it removes the fine particles from your pools water and rids your pool of pollutants, keeping it clean and clear for your daily use. Choose from three types of filters: Sand, Diatomaceous Earth, and Cartridge. With a sand filter specially graded sand operates as the filter media. Water enters the tank by way of the diffuser, travels through the bed of sand which traps the dirt and debris and then deposits the water back into your pool. Diatomaceous Earth filters operate much in the same way as a sand filter with diatomaceous earth, a filter powder, acting as the filter media. Diatomaceous earth is much finer than sand and is able to capture debris as small as 5-8 microns. Cartridge filters use a paper cartridge as the filter media. They operate much like sand filters do.
The filter type you choose to use can be based on a variety of variables including cost and preference. The suitability of a pool filter has little to do with the type of filter you choose but more to do with the size of the equipment.
